«Im Schwendital rondom»

From the Schwende train stop, cross the road and head up towards the church. It is worth visiting the very elegant building dedicated to St. Martin to take a look inside. Shortly before the church, the path branches off to the left and leads across meadows to the Unterbild property with its elderberry trees. With the babbling Schwendebach Stream on your left, you will walk past the special Chapel "Im Bild" (dedicated to the Holy Family) and the associated property. A short while later, follow the Schwendebach directly past the Ebenalpbahn valley station and cross the Appenzeller Bahnen train tracks behind the Wasserauen train station. That's it for the asphalt underlay, as the path now crosses meadows and pastures. After a short counter-climb, you will pass the Dreifaltigkeitskapelle (Holy Trinity Chapel) after which you can already see the two inns Alpenblick and Frohe Aussicht. Walk the last few metres to the Schwende train stop, whilst always having a view of the valley.

Remarks

Tip: The round trip is particularly beautiful in the evening sun.

Notice: Please follow the white signposts "Im Schwendital rondom". The trail can be completed in both directions.
