In the past, «Chrempfli» were only served at the Landsgemeinde. Back then, the men brought them home to their families. Today, you can enjoy them all year round. A hazelnut filling forms the core of these soft "Chröms" with a slight hint of aniseed. Often made by hand according to a traditional family recipe, the semi-circular doughnuts are decorated on the front with a floral ornament or typical Appenzell motifs.
