Appenzeller Huus – Huus Bären ***

The Huus Bären is the origin of the Appenzeller Huus Resort in Gonten and one of the most traditional inns in Switzerland. Located in the powerful region of Appenzellerland, the cozy 3-star superior hotel with a history dating back to 1602 offers a unique combination of tradition and modernity. After extensive renovations, Huus Bären reopened its doors in summer 2020 with 12 single and double rooms, junior suites, and suites designed in alpine Appenzell style. A special challenge—yet also a great added value—was the construction of the sauna oasis and day spa beneath the wooden roof.

A comfortable pleasure: the luxurious box-spring beds with a hay compartment at the headboard. This traditional detail creates the impression that hay is spilling out from behind the glass – country life at its best. The original ceiling height of 1.80 meters has been preserved in some of the vintage rooms. Each room is individually designed, yet guests do not have to miss out on modern comforts such as a flat-screen TV and radio. Another sign of the attention to detail is the Appenzell mineral water and the hiking backpack that await travelers in their rooms.
