General description
The wooden farmhouse with adjoining barn stands alone and harmoniously in the middle of a plain, which lies on a river bend. Despite the quiet location, the nearest railway station is only 650 metres or about 10 minutes' walk away.
The property is under local heritage protection because it documents in a well preserved way the rare type of a simple small farmhouse. The building is considered to be of local historical significance, as it is said to be the home of the Appenzell freedom fighter Ueli Rothach, who, according to legend, died in 1405 at the Battle of Stoß.
A typical feature of this type of Appenzell farmhouse is the low room height of the parlour and kitchen.

Interior
The house has a spacious entrance with stairs to the cellar, access to the fire wood storage and stairs to the living area. To the left of the entrance there is a small bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin.
From the entrance one goes up a short staircase to enter the actual living area. A living room (room height 1.85 m) with dining table, tiled stove, lounge chairs and a view of the mountains invites you to stay. There is also a TV and games room with a sofa.
The modern kitchen (room height 1.85 m), which was completely renovated in 2020, is equipped with induction cooker, exhaust fan, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer compartment and storage space.
Heating is provided by the tiled stove in the living room and if necessary there are additional electric heaters.
To get to the upper floor you have to climb a short but steep wooden staircase (not suitable for people who are not good on foot / to be used with caution with small children). Here you will find a wide central corridor where clothes and luggage can be stored. One bedroom faces south, the other east. In both bedrooms there are two beds with eiderdowns, which can be placed alone or as a double bed.

Outdoor area
The garden table, deckchairs, sunshade and barbecue can be placed in front of the house, away from noise and hectic. The water that splashes into the trough in front of the barn comes from a nearby spring. The adjoining meadowland is managed by a farmer, but the attached barn and stable are no longer in use. Behind the house there is a hiking path which is used frequently.
