Panoramic view on the Hoher Hirschberg

Hiking tip to the Berggasthaus Hoher Hirschberg (mountain inn).

Starting from Sammelplatz, you walk on a well-kept path across the generous meadows of the Mendle cooperative. On the way, you will cross a beautiful reed landscape - a species-rich fen with rough pastures. The next section of the trail leads you through the forest. A short while later you will arrive at the mountain inn. Enjoy the fantastic and widely known panoramic view while stopping there. Walk back along the same path to Hütten. Instead of continuing in the direction towards Sammelplatz, you can now follow one of the most beautiful stretches ever: the wide, lovely and phenomenally panoramic Hirschberg ridge which ends at the Guggerloch junction, where the route leads you to the right into the forest and the special Chapel of St. Ottilia. From there it is not far until you reach the edge of the forest and you are back at the starting point, Sammelplatz.

Places along the route

Sammelplatz – Mendle – Hütten – Hoher Hirschberg – Hütten – Guggerloch – Chapel St. Ottilia – Sammelplatz

Remarks

Tip: Saint Ottilia is the patron saint of eyesight. If you have eye problems, wet your eyes with the water from the fountain next to the Chapel - it helps.
