Up,up and away to Seealpsee

Seealpsee – one of the three mountain lakes in the Alpstein massif. Enjoy this easy hike up to and around the lake. Remember to take in the breathless scenery all around you.

The hike starts off at the train station in Wasserauen and continues along a stream and across an alpine meadow. In the Hüttentobel forest, the trickling sounds of a mountain stream accompany you up to Alp Hütten. Here the view opens up to reveal a fabulous alpine landscape and the Säntis, the highest peak in the Alpstein massif. The route continues gently up to Alp Waldhütte and before you know it the magnificent Seealpsee Lake comes into view. Take a relaxing stroll around the lake starting on the left-hand side. Here you'll see lots of small mountain huts scattered around the lake. At the end of the route, you may linger around in the two mountain inns, Berggasthaus Seealpsee and Berggasthaus Forelle. You can also enjoy a romantic boat ride on the lake. Furthermore, you can visit the Bruder Klaus Chapel situated in a sparse forest. To return back to where you started, you can take the steep road down to Wasserauen.
