Boutique Hotel Bären Gonten ***

Where tradition and design merge.

Centuries-old knitted walls and rustic strap floors bear witness to the house's eventful history. Guests were received in the Bären, in the middle of Appenzellerland, as early as the 18th century. The completely renovated boutique hotel includes a restaurant, bar, smokers' lounge, wine cellar, seminar room, terrace, sauna oasis and 25 rooms and suites. The cosy "Appenzeller Chic", with authentic design and playful details, runs like a red thread through all hotel areas. The crackling of the fireplace, the splashing of the fountain, fine food in the glass and exquisite food on the plate: at the Bären, old friendships are cultivated and new ones are made. The cosy wellness area on the top floor has a new attraction. The wood-fired Skargards hot tub is an original Swedish outdoor leisure activity. Up to five people can reserve the hot tub or use it spontaneously on request. Only the crackling of the logs can be heard and there is a smell in the clear Appenzell air reminiscent of childhood campfires.
